EmComm East is an amateur radio emergency communications conference, where amateur radio operators involved in EmComm can attend training sessions on technical topics, purchase equipment and supplies from vendors, learn from served agencies, obtain VE testing for license upgrades, and interact with other EmComm operators from all over the area.

Conference Goal

The goal of Emcomm East is to:

  • Develop new ideas and approaches to problem solving
  • Provide both leading edge and topical presentations
  • Create opportunities to connect with individuals and organizations involved in amateur radio emergency communications throughout the Northeast.

Conference Format

The EmComm East Conference Committee encourages amateur radio operators, served agencies, and others involved in emergency communication to submit presentation proposals for general interest sessions. Preference will be given to presentations that fit into one of the following five streams:

  • Real Events / Lessons Learned: Real incidents/events that have occurred within the last five years
  • Emerging Trends in Emergency Communications: New technological capabilities and operating practices
  • Preparing for Disasters: Organizing volunteers before and during a disaster / supporting served agencies
  • Technical Issues/Capabilities: Interoperability, email and other forms of bulk communication.
Where applicable, presentations should address:
  • Issues that affect Emergency Communications
  • Case Studies especially lessons learned AND not learned
  • Solutions both proven and potential, to the issues faced in the use of amateur radio for Emergency Communications

Presentation Formats

Sessions will be 60 to 75 minutes, allow at least 10 minutes for Q&A
